HAZARD COUNTRY CLUB
The 9-hole “Hazard” course at the Hazard Country Club facility in Hazard, Kentucky features 2,494 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 34. The course rating is 30.5 and it has a slope rating of 114. Hazard golf course opened in 1927. Betty Fields manages the course as the General Manager.

Hazard features Baptist churches, Methodist churches, Catholic churches, Pentecostal and Assembly of God churches, Lutheran churches, and other Protestant and Catholic Christian churches. There’s a church for you!

From seasonal food stands to commercial design, Hazard features a robust selection of small businesses. It’s the hard work these entrepreneurs put forth that create our desire to keep our money close to home by buying local.
IDEAL NEIGHBORHOODS
The City of Hazard hosts ideal communities that are focused on safety, opportunities, access to goods and services, positive relationships between citizens, and have common values and goals. Some of our neighborhoods have been known to throw “block” parties where neighbors come together and fellowship. This may be labeled as old fashioned by some, but is one way Eastern Kentuckians display a sense of pride and heritage by keeping family values and community togetherness at the forefront of our society.
ENTERTAINMENT
Hazard features movie theatres, an amphitheater located beside City Hall, and The Forum located near the south end of the City limits. The Forum is a cornerstone for the arts to produce live and taped programming materials and presentations.

HAZARD-PERRY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Our primary mission is to promote new business and commercial growth as well as the retention and expansion of existing businesses. While these standards remain today, the Chamber office staff also works with the government of the City of Hazard and Perry County to promote the common interest of the community in order to enhance the quality of life of the residents. Hazard serves as the center for education, communication and healthcare for the area and surrounding counties.

Black Gold Festival
BLACK GOLD FESTIVAL

//SEPTEMBER 17th-20th// Celebrate the mountain way of life with the annual celebration of coal, Kentucky’s “black gold”. The Black Gold Festival is one of Kentucky’s largest festivals and has become the place to see some of the hottest upcoming stars of music. Enjoy unique arts and crafts, antiques, a parade, music, a carnival and delicious food.

Soap Box Derby
SOAP BOX DERBY
//APRIL 18th// Put on by the Kiwanis Club of Hazard, the annual Soap Box Derby is a youth racing program which has run nationally since 1934. The idea of the Soap Box Derby grew out of a photographic assignment of Dayton, Ohio, newsman Myron Scott. He covered a race of boy-built cars in his home community and was so impressed with this event that he acquired a copyright for the idea and began development of a similar program on a national scale.
5K Run
HPD'S 5K "FOOT PURSUIT"

//JULY 1st// Whether staying fit or just trying to out-run a cop so that you can ditch your meth without being seen, running can be fun and exciting 😉 That’s why we are pleased to present the 3rd Annual HPD 5K “Foot Pursuit”. Earlier this year, another cancer diagnosis struck the HPD family when Mandi Dishner, wife of HPD Major Russell Dishner, was diagnosed with uterine cancer at the age of 33. All proceeds from this years race will go to her cancer fund. Pre-registration is $20 or $25 on the day of the race. Registration forms can be downloaded at hazardpd.org or www.hazardky.gov or can be picked up in person at the Hazard Police Department. Car Show
HPD'S CAR SHOW & MOTORCYCLE RIDE

//TBA// In the spirit of “paying-it-forward”, the Hazard Police Department hosts a motorcycle ride and car show in downtown Hazard. The car show includes classes such as Street Rod, Modern, Best in Show, Classics, Rat Rods, Mopar, Best Ford, and Best Chevy. Burn outs are performed in the Lovern Street Parking Lot. Awards are also presented for Best in Class.

Summer in the Park
SUMMER IN THE PARK

//JUNE 27th// The Bobby Davis Park is the location for the annual “Summer in the Park”, an event highlighting local artists, theatrical presentations, Appalachian photography, and even a Book Fair. It’s your one-stop-shop for summertime fun to be enjoyed with the entire family!
